Having struggled with my weight for nearly 50 years, ignoring several “wake-up” calls along the way, what finally made me “wake up” and prioritize my health and fitness? In the video below, I discuss the many things that didn’t motivate me to take action, many of which had the opposite effect, and the one thing that made me take action.
Some main points from the video:
I have been struggling with my weight for nearly fifty years since I was about ten years old. Over these years, many reasons, events, etc., should have motivated me to lose weight. Many did motivate me to try, but it wasn’t until recently that I prioritized weight loss and physical fitness.
There were many times I felt inspired to lose weight and improve my physical fitness, but I always felt that an unbreakable force was holding me back. I read articles in magazines and books, tried numerous diets, hired personal trainers, joined numerous gyms, and consulted with several nutritionists (and psychotherapists).
Fairly serious warning signs: type 2 diabetes in the family and doctors lecturing me that obesity means a greater chance of getting cancer or other serious diseases still didn’t get me to take action that lasted more than a couple of months.
The “wake-up call” that finally woke me up:
Four years ago, I learned that I have an autoimmune disease that may be severely debilitating, and that made me prioritize my physical fitness. If I was going to have serious health issues to deal with, I wanted to be as physically fit as possible.
I started exercising regularly and focusing more on eating foods that nourished my body and didn’t trigger inflammation, an autoimmune disease symptom.
My involvement in Turn Up Dance Fitness over the past year has helped keep me motivated to maintain this focus on my overall wellness. Through the support and love from this diverse community of women nationwide, I can finally say that I love my body and myself—for the first time in my life!
With both factors motivating me to focus on my wellness, eating well, and exercising regularly, I was still unable to get my weight below 170 pounds. This is why I decided to try the GLP-1 weight loss drugs.
Take Action!
