So many people cannot take some aspect of their lives to the “next level” because they don’t take the time to reflect and gain insight into what they really want and need. What do you do when you don’t have time to take it easy? Let’s discuss this!
Note: Three podcast episodes I’ve recently listened to inspired this, including a podcast by author Lindsey Schwartz, Founder of Powerhouse Women, and two episodes of the Ed Mylett Show with guests Robin Sharma and Leila Hormozi. I’m working on an episode that looks at the Hormozi episode in more detail—it was that inspiring. Links to these shows and more info on the individuals noted below.
Many of us developed a strong work ethic through our parents or other influences early in our lives: the harder you work, the better your situation. Too often, we work so hard that we reach a plateau or a breaking point and decline. With so many years focused on working hard with certainty that it’s essential to success, breaking the habit, properly contemplating the situation, and developing a plan is challenging.
Some have developed this work ethic as a survival mechanism, often needed by young adults as they start and progress in their professional lives. In time, these may realize they need a mindset change, but that is easier said than done after years of this thinking.
I talk about how a mindset shift, based on the work of Iyanla Vanzant, “Life is so Easy,” increased my happiness and gave me time to reflect and plan. (Read more about this in my article Peeling Off The Layers to Find My Authentic Self – Part 1. I guess this article is Part 2! lol)
Being part of a community can help with advice, support, and maybe babysitting services. So, your first step may be to find a community you want to be a part of that is safe and relevant to your needs.
I am working on building a community and plan to launch Raising Your Voice officially this autumn. Click here to sign up for the waiting list.
According to Deepak Chopra (and many others), “If you don’t have time to meditate once a day, you should probably do it twice a day.” When you don’t have time to “take it easy” and reflect on what you really want and need and how to get there, it is now a priority to make time!

🌸 Choose one area of your life (weight loss, finances, career, a relationship, etc.) where you work so hard to reach the next level but haven’t taken the time to reflect on what you really want or need from this. Schedule an appointment with yourself, 15 minutes to an hour, to reflect and make a plan to do this regularly.
